This training is for you that meets migrants in your work and would like to feel more secure when working with people from different cultures.

To bridge cultural differences, you need to understand yourself as well as the culture of new arrivals. Building on our participants specific questions this training program explain differences in values that explain usual challenges, provide advice on approaches and practice intercultural communication skills.

Content

Introduction to Intercultural Competence

  • Introduction to what culture and intercultural competence is.
  • Everyone has bias – how to overcome stereotyping.

Comparing values and identity

  • Through research about cultural value dimensions we compare Sweden with the different countries of origin.
  • What is seen to be right or wrong, good or bad and give shame or pride.
  • The relation between individuals, family and state, upbringing and education or human and god.

Cultural traits in Sweden

  • Is there anything ”Typically Swedish”?
  • Specific cultural traits that can have an effect on cultural meetings.
  • How Swedes and Swedish organizational culture be perceived by others.

Language

  • Ways of learning a new langauage.
  • Usual linguistical misunderstandings and pronunciation difficulties.
  • How to work with interpreters.

Adapted Communication is Efficient Communication

  • The art of adapting without losing your values.
  • Strategies to bridge the difference between different communication styles.

  • Raise self- awareness in intercultural meetings and identify strategies to bridge cultural differences.
  • Provide knowledge and skills to staff to help facilitate migrants into society, education and the labour market.
  • Improve communication and interaction in daily work situations and avoid unnecessary miscommunication.

Basic-knowledge Workshop

These fun workshops are a combination of lectures and interactive exercises which introduce you to the chosen topic and provide enough knowledge for a basic understanding of it. We create engagement that enables you to identify areas for improvement.

In-practice Workshop

In addition to providing basic information and simple understanding of the topic, this workshop provides practical skills. Lectures are varied with interactive exercises. The focus is on practicing communication and interaction skills that can be then used in practice in everyday work.

Our consultations include personal and small group coaching, guidance, education and training. During our consultation time, we develop individual skills, strategies and give specific advice based on the clients’ own questions.

Inspirational Lectures

All our lectures are inspirational lectures that create enthusiasm for a new subject and the discovery of a new area of knowledge. We help you to see greater and better possibilities and motivate you to willingly make the needed changes needed.
